OKOI SEKA ATHANASE (Côte d'Ivoire/1977)

Okoi Seka Athanase is the first artist produced by Raimi Gbadamassi and Badmos label. The first LP was released in 1974 and will be a huge success with the famous title "900 kilos d'amour pour Elisabeth" ("900 pounds of love for Elizabeth"). The money earned will allow Badmos to buy musical instruments for Okoi Seka. In 1977, Athanase records the album presented today backed by the "Les Grands Colombias du Peuple" band and the brass of the "Black Santiago" led by Ignace de Souza. This LP is excellent, especially the afrobeat tune "Melokon Mebun Ou". Okoi Seka Athanase belongs to the Atché ethnic group from southwestern part of Côte D'Ivoire, he is the father of the famous singer Monique Seka.

What an amazing album. Any more information on either Okoi Seka Athanase or the backing group Les Grands Colombias du Peuple?
